Holmes introduced Henry to the situation of the Baskerville Hall and the legend. Henry responded, "I heard of the legend of the hound when I was young. But I didn't and don't believe it. Whether the danger comes from the devil or a man, I will go back to the manor." Holmes insisted Watson accompany Henry to go to Baskerville and follow him afterwards like his shadow. The adventure Watson would confront with had a strong appeal to him. Therefore he accepted it immediately.
Devonshire, in which Baskerville was located, was a quiet, lovely and simple place, but today two policemen stood at the exit of the station and examined carefully the people passing by. They were searching this area for an extremely inhuman criminal at large.
Walking out of the station, they came to Baskerville. The housekeeper, a very tall man, came out to greet them, "Welcome, Sir Henry." The housekeeper and his wife had been servants here for many years. This place easily made people shudder and shiver, for it appeared gloomy and horrible everywhere. Henry thought nobody could be happy when living in such a place.
